Search forms send the name, phone number, or address you enter to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Oakland People Search does not retain a copy of those searches on its servers. When you contact us, we receive the details you choose to send and use them to answer your message.
Information Collected Automatically
Standard server logs may record an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and visit times. We review that information in aggregate to maintain the site and learn which resources visitors use. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and advertising measurement where applicable.
How Information Is Used
The limited data described above helps us operate the site, diagnose faults, measure traffic, and improve content. We neither sell visitor lists nor create individual user profiles.
Privacy on Linked Services
Links may lead to City of Oakland resources, Alameda County offices, California agencies, library collections, and outside search services. Information submitted after following a link is governed by the destination's privacy policy rather than this one. The same rule applies to sponsored results supplied by a third-party company.
Parties That Process Data
Hosting and support providers process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatically collected data already described. Visitor data may also be disclosed when valid legal process requires it; otherwise, we do not share it.
Data Security and Retention
An encrypted connection protects data in transit. Server logs are kept only as long as needed for the stated purposes. Because Oakland People Search has no visitor accounts, it holds no site password or account profile for you.
Users Under 18
Oakland People Search is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor sent personal information so it can be removed.

The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, may give California residents rights to know, correct, or delete covered personal information, opt out of its sale or sharing, and limit certain uses of sensitive personal information. Whether a right applies depends on the law and the business involved. Since we retain little visitor data, a request will usually concern contact messages or server logs. Records held by the City of Oakland, Alameda County, California agencies, courts, or other custodians remain outside our control, so correction or removal requests for those records must go to the office that keeps them.
